A tragic road accident in Faisalabad claimed the lives of a three-year-old boy and a 65-year-old man, while leaving eight others severely injured. The incident occurred on Wednesday when a speeding car rammed into a loader rickshaw carrying 12 family members at Gattwala Underpass on Canal Road.
Rescue Response and Casualties
A Rescue 1122 spokesperson confirmed that emergency teams rushed to the scene after receiving a distress call. The critically injured were transported to a hospital, while the bodies were moved to a mortuary after completing legal formalities. Preliminary investigations indicated that the speeding car struck the loader rickshaw, which was traveling from Sahianwala to Faisalabad. The impact killed two passengers instantly and injured eight others.
The deceased were identified as 65-year-old Sadiq Ali and three-year-old Ayan, son of Boota. Rescue 1122 handed over the bodies to Madina Town police and shifted them to the mortuary of Allied Hospital-I.
Injured Victims Admitted to Hospital
The injured, who were provided first aid at the scene, included eight critically wounded individuals admitted to the hospital: Iftikharul Hassan, 43; Shehzad Ahmed Bilal, 22; Maqsoodan Bibi, 38; Ishrat, 35; three-year-old Abdul Hadi; one-year-old Umm-e-Farwah; five-year-old Usman Ali; and Sugra, 35. Two children with minor injuries—six-year-old Usman and two-year-old Anaya—were treated at the spot.
Second Fatal Accident on Satiana Road
In a separate traffic accident on the same day, a man was killed and three others injured at Khanoana Bypass Chowk on Satiana Road. According to Rescue 1122, a trailer was parked at the roadside while its helper was changing a punctured tire when another speeding trailer collided with it. The helper, 40-year-old Allah Ditta, died on the spot. The injured—Riaz, 45; Umar, 25; and Adeel, 40—were taken to the district headquarters hospital, and the body was shifted to a mortuary.
WASA Action on Manhole Cover Theft
Meanwhile, Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Managing Director Saqib Aziz stated that strict legal action is being taken against those involved in stealing, buying, and selling manhole covers. He urged citizens to report missing manhole covers via the WASA helpline, which operates round the clock, promising that any reported missing cover would be replaced promptly.
