The first spell of the monsoon season has commenced in Shangla district, bringing intermittent rainfall to its mountainous regions and offering much-needed respite from the prolonged heatwave and humidity that had gripped the area for several days.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the current monsoon spell is expected to continue until July 5, with light to moderate rainfall forecast across most parts of the district, while isolated areas may experience heavy downpours. Intermittent rain has been reported in several areas, including Alpurai, Lilownai, Chakesar, Shahpur, Karora, Bele Baba, Kana, Machkandi, Shang, Bisham, Puran, Martung, and other mountainous localities.

A noticeable drop in temperature was recorded following the showers, with residents welcoming the pleasant weather after days of sweltering heat. Rain-fed torrents descending from the surrounding mountains have raised water levels at several locations, while the increased flow has further enhanced the scenic beauty of Shangla’s waterfalls and lush landscapes.

Agricultural experts believe the first monsoon rains will prove highly beneficial for the district’s farming sector.
