Mayor of Karachi, Barrister Murtaza Wahab, on Thursday affirmed that providing citizens with essential civic and social amenities remains the top priority of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC). He stated that public welfare projects are being completed across the city to enhance residents' quality of life. The Mayor expressed these views while speaking to media representatives during the inauguration of a modern Community Center in Baldia Town.
Inauguration Ceremony and Attendees
The event was attended by Member of the Sindh Assembly Asif Musa, Baldia Town Chairman Kareem Askani, elected local government representatives, concerned officials, party workers, and a large number of local dignitaries. Following the inauguration, the Mayor inspected various sections of the Community Center and reviewed the facilities being provided.
Mayor’s Vision for Social Facilities
Addressing the gathering, Mayor Wahab said that expanding social facilities is an important part of KMC’s vision. He emphasized that such public facilities are essential for building a healthy, civilized, and cohesive society where people can actively participate in social, cultural, and community activities. He assured that more projects of this nature would soon be launched in different parts of the city.
Directives for Future Planning
On the occasion, the Mayor directed the Director General Technical Services, KMC, to prepare a comprehensive plan along with practical proposals for the establishment of additional Community Centers across the city. He instructed that future planning should take into account population, local requirements, and the availability of government land so that the maximum number of citizens could benefit from these facilities. He further stated that the KMC would continue to accelerate its public service initiatives while giving special attention to social welfare alongside development projects.
Engagement with Residents
Later, Mayor Karachi met with local residents and elected representatives to discuss area-specific issues, development needs, and future projects.
