RIYADH: Saudi aid agency KSrelief has signed a joint implementation program with the Organization of Competencies for Studies and Human Development to rehabilitate six hospitals and establish three oxygen generation units across Sudan. The program is expected to benefit about three million people directly, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Thursday.
Scope of the Project
The project includes the provision of essential medical equipment for emergency, intensive care, trauma, operating theater, pediatric, inpatient, recovery, medical imaging, and laboratory departments. It also entails establishing three oxygen generation units at the targeted hospitals, installing equipment and oxygen systems, and training medical and technical personnel to operate them.
Part of Broader Humanitarian Efforts
The agreement is part of a series of humanitarian and relief initiatives carried out by the Kingdom through KSrelief to support healthcare systems, enhance medical services, and improve access to treatment for patients in need worldwide. KSrelief works closely with its partners to overcome challenges and ensure the safe delivery of aid even under difficult circumstances.
Sudan's Health Minister Praises Saudi Support
Sudan’s Federal Minister of Health Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim in January this year said that the Saudi aid agency was the first responder to meet the needs of those affected since the outbreak of the humanitarian crisis in the country. His remarks came during the inauguration of nine humanitarian projects implemented by KSrelief across several vital sectors in Sudan. He said that Saudi support allocated to the health sector in Sudan had exceeded $33 million, including the shipment of more than 200 containers carrying advanced medical equipment and power generators, targeting 50 hospitals.
