Lahore Police to Enforce QR Panic Buttons from July 1

Deadline Set for QR Panic Button Installation

City Traffic Police Lahore have announced a crackdown starting July 1 to enforce the installation of QR panic buttons and other modern security features in public transport, including taxis, rickshaws, and online cab services. Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Syed Abdul Rahim Shirazi stated on Sunday that all rickshaw unions, online cab services, and public transport operators have been given until July 1 to comply. Legal action will be taken against vehicles that fail to adopt QR panic buttons and other mandatory security features after the deadline.

Installation Progress and Special Teams

The CTO said that traffic police teams are continuing the installation of QR panic buttons at 45 different locations across the city, with special teams deployed in each traffic sector. Twelve separate teams have been allocated specifically for rickshaws to maximize the number of vehicles equipped with the facility. So far, QR panic buttons have been installed in more than 6,000 rickshaws during the ongoing campaign.

New License Centers and Requirements

To facilitate citizens, four new license centers have been established at the request of various rickshaw unions. According to CTO Abdul Rahim Shirazi, obtaining a QR panic button requires a vehicle license, registration book, and e-challan clearance. He emphasized that smart traffic management and the promotion of modern security features are being ensured for public safety.
