Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Larkana Ahmed Chaudhry announced that the district police have successfully dismantled a drug peddling network. On Thursday, three drug dealers, including two female suspects, were apprehended red-handed with approximately 12 kilograms (12,000 grams) of cannabis.
Operation Details and Arrests
According to SSP Chaudhry, the arrests were made with the assistance of a federal civil sensitive agency, foiling a major drug supply attempt. The suspects were intercepted from a passenger coach arriving from Quetta at the New Bus Terminal area. The three individuals have been identified as Aqeela, wife of Muhammad Umar, originally an Afghan national currently residing in Quetta, from whom 4 kilograms (4,000 grams) of cannabis were recovered; Laiba, daughter of Wali Muhammad Brohi, a resident of Quetta, from whom 2 kilograms (2,000 grams) were recovered; and Muhammad Hayat, son of Abdul Hamid Brohi, from whom 3 kilograms (3,000 grams) were recovered.
Inter-Provincial Drug Trafficking Gang
SSP Ahmed Chaudhry stated that the arrested suspects are part of an inter-provincial drug trafficking gang. Preliminary investigations reveal that they have previously been apprehended in drug trafficking cases within Balochistan province. The suspects are believed to work as delivery boys for drug dealers Rahmat Brohi and Imdad Brohi, who are based in Quetta.
Legal Proceedings and Ongoing Investigation
A case has been registered against the arrested suspects and a fleeing suspect, Yasin Jatoi, who escaped after discarding over 2 kilograms (2,600 grams) of cannabis. The case was filed at the Waleed police station. SSP Chaudhry commended DSP Sadar/Civil Lines Saad Jabbar and SHO Waleed police station Sub-Inspector Arshad Mahmood Malik for their efforts. He has issued orders to broaden the scope of the investigation. Interrogation of the arrested suspects is ongoing to identify other accomplices, buyers, and drug dealers.
