The Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) has achieved a major milestone in digital revenue collection and financial transparency through the Irrigation Revenue Collection (e-Aabiana) System developed for the Punjab Irrigation Department. On June 15, 2026, a record-breaking amount of Rs 1.6 billion was collected in a single day via e-Pay Punjab against 99,866 bills, marking a significant achievement in public sector digitization, according to a PITB press release issued on Monday.
Meeting Highlights Record Achievement
This milestone was shared during a meeting presided over by PITB Chairman Faisal Yousaf. PITB Additional Director General (ADG) Ali Raza Kheiri, Joint Director Usman Waheed, and other senior officials were also present. The participants of the meeting were apprised that since the launch of the e-Aabiana system in December 2020, a total of 6.7 million bills have been processed through e-Pay Punjab as of June 17, 2026, demonstrating the system’s growing adoption and efficiency.
Chairman Lauds e-Governance Vision
Speaking on the occasion, PITB Chairman Faisal Yousaf stated that the achievement reflects the successful implementation of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s vision for e-Governance, combined with PITB’s technological expertise. He emphasized that the system has streamlined irrigation revenue collection, reduced manual intervention, and enhanced transparency.
System Impact and Future Outlook
The e-Aabiana system allows farmers to pay their irrigation dues online through e-Pay Punjab, eliminating the need for physical visits to banks or revenue offices. The record single-day collection underscores the system's reliability and public trust. PITB officials noted that the platform continues to evolve, with plans to integrate additional features to further improve user experience and operational efficiency.
