PEHL-911 Project Briefing
Additional Chief Secretary Home Ikram Ullah Khan briefed participants on the progress and key features of the PEHL-911 Project. He stated that PEHL-911 is a flagship initiative of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government aimed at establishing a unified, modern, round-the-clock emergency response system for the province. The platform will enable citizens to access police, rescue, PDMA, and other emergency services through a single emergency number.
The briefing further highlighted that citizens will be able to contact 911 during emergencies even without an active SIM card or mobile network connectivity, ensuring uninterrupted access to emergency assistance, particularly in remote and underserved areas.
Emphasis on Robust Emergency Response
Speaking on the occasion, SACM Tariq Saeed Marwat emphasized the importance of developing a robust and citizen-centric emergency response mechanism. He directed concerned authorities to devise effective measures to discourage fake and non-emergency calls so that the helpline remains available for genuine emergencies. He further stressed the need for establishing a comprehensive monitoring and follow-up mechanism for all incoming calls and reported incidents to ensure timely response, accountability, and quality service delivery.
Cheque Handover and Commitment
At the conclusion of the ceremony, the cheque was formally handed over to General Manager NTC Muhammad Sarwar in recognition of the services provided by NTC for the implementation of the PEHL-911 Project. Participants appreciated the close coordination between the Home Department and NTC and reaffirmed their commitment to the timely operationalization of the project.
The PEHL-911 Project represents a significant step towards strengthening public safety, improving emergency response capabilities, and enhancing service delivery through the use of modern technology and integrated communication systems across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
