PMD Forecasts Very Hot, Humid Weather with Thunderstorms Across Pakistan

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a forecast for Wednesday, predicting very hot and humid conditions across the country's plain areas, with chances of rain, windstorms, and thunderstorms in upper Punjab, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and northeastern Balochistan during the evening or night.

General Weather Outlook

According to the PMD, hot and dry weather is expected over most parts of the country on Wednesday, while very hot and very humid conditions are likely to prevail in the plains. In Islamabad and adjoining areas, hot and humid weather is expected during the daytime, with rain-thundershowers accompanied by windstorms likely during the evening and night.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, mainly hot and humid weather is expected in most districts, with very humid conditions in the plains. Scattered rain-windstorms and thundershowers, with isolated heavy falls, are likely in Dir, Chitral, Swat, Kohistan, Malakand, Nowshera, Charsadda, Karak, Tank, Lakki Marwat, Swabi, Shangla, Battagram, Buner, Kohat, Kurram, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Peshawar, Mardan, Hangu, and Waziristan.

Punjab

Punjab is likely to remain very hot and humid, while scattered rain-windstorms and thundershowers, with isolated heavy falls, are expected during the evening and night in Sialkot, Narowal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Gujar Khan, Murree, Galliyat, Attock, Chakwal, Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Faisalabad, Khushab, Mianwali, and Sargodha.

Sindh and Balochistan

Mainly very hot and humid weather is expected in most districts of Sindh, while partly cloudy conditions are likely in coastal areas. In Balochistan, hot weather is expected in most districts, while central districts are likely to experience very hot conditions. Rain-windstorms and thunderstorms may occur in Zhob, Sherani, Kohlu, Naseerabad, Harnai, Sibbi, Musakhel, Barkhan, Dera Bugti, Khuzdar, and adjoining areas.

Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan

Partly cloudy weather is expected in Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, with rain-windstorms and thundershowers likely at isolated places. Isolated heavy rainfall may also occur in Kashmir.

Past 24 Hours Weather

During the past 24 hours, hot and dry weather prevailed over most parts of the country, while very hot and humid conditions persisted over the plains. However, Khuzdar received 2 mm of rainfall. The highest maximum temperatures recorded on Tuesday were 48°C in Nokkundi, 47°C in Dalbandin, and 46°C each in Sibbi and Dadu.

City Temperature Records

The minimum/maximum temperatures recorded in major cities were: Islamabad 30°C/42°C, Lahore 31°C/42°C, Karachi 29°C/35°C, Peshawar 30°C/44°C, Quetta 25°C/42°C, Gilgit 20°C/43°C, Muzaffarabad 24°C/40°C, Skardu 13°C/37°C, Murree 17°C/27°C, and Faisalabad 31°C/42°C. Multan recorded 29°C/41°C, while Srinagar, Jammu, Leh, Pulwama, Anantnag, Shopian, and Baramulla recorded 22°C/35°C, 28°C/36°C, 12°C/29°C, 22°C/34°C, 23°C/35°C, 22°C/34°C, and 23°C/34°C, respectively. The PMD has also forecast hotter-than-normal weather and flood risks for July to September.
