CM Maryam Nawaz Approves Expansion of Model Village Project
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has approved the inclusion of 485 villages in the provincial government's flagship Model Village Project, which carries a total cost of Rs 61.12 billion. The approval came after the completion of the tendering process for the project, marking a significant milestone in the initiative aimed at transforming rural infrastructure across the province.
Minister Zeeshan Rafique Tasked with Speedy Completion
Local Government Minister Zeeshan Rafique has been entrusted with the responsibility of ensuring the project is completed as quickly as possible. The Chief Minister has issued specific instructions to prioritize 40 villages for completion in the first phase, underscoring the government's commitment to delivering tangible benefits to rural communities without delay.
Scope of Development Works in Villages
Under the Model Village Project, a comprehensive range of development works will be carried out in the selected villages. These include provision of clean drinking water, installation of modern drainage systems, construction of wastewater treatment plants, development of modern parks for children, installation of street lights, and paving of streets. The objective is to upgrade rural infrastructure to modern standards, improving the quality of life for residents.
Tendering Progress: Contracts Finalized for 463 Villages
According to official sources, contracts for development projects in 463 additional villages have been successfully finalized. For the remaining 22 villages, tenders will be reissued to ensure competitive bidding and timely execution. This systematic approach is designed to maintain transparency and efficiency in the project's implementation.
Massive Beneficiary Reach: 3.4 Million Rural Citizens
The project is expected to benefit approximately 3.4 million rural citizens across Punjab by providing them access to modern basic facilities. This large-scale initiative reflects the provincial government's focus on bridging the urban-rural divide and promoting equitable development throughout the province.
