Punjab Minister Reviews Local Roads Programme

Punjab Minister for Communication and Works Malik Sohaib Ahmed Bharth chaired a meeting on Monday to assess the progress of ongoing development projects under Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif's Local Roads Programme. The meeting was attended by Secretary Communications and Works Raja Jahangir Anwar, Special Secretary, Additional Secretaries, and Chief Engineers of the department.

Detailed Review of Road Construction

During the meeting, a comprehensive review of the construction and rehabilitation of local roads across the province was conducted. Officials informed that 949 schemes have been completed so far under the programme. The meeting was further apprised that a target has been set to complete 1,134 roads by June 28, while an additional 185 roads are to be completed within the next six days.

Minister Directs Timely Completion

Addressing the meeting, the provincial minister directed all chief engineers and field formations to ensure completion of assigned targets within the stipulated timeframe. He expressed satisfaction over the pace of work and performance of the programme, reiterating that providing better travel facilities to the public remains a top priority of the Punjab government.

Malik Sohaib Ahmed Bharth said that infrastructure development in accordance with the vision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif is being pursued with full commitment, and all targets set for June will be achieved at all costs. He added that the construction of quality roads is directly benefiting the public by improving connectivity and facilitating transportation.

Coordinated Strategy for Development

The minister added that the Communication and Works Department is implementing a coordinated and effective strategy to ensure timely completion of development projects. He said Punjab is witnessing significant and historic progress in infrastructure development, which will contribute to economic growth and public welfare across the province.
