Punjab Police Deport Over 35,700 Foreign Nationals

Punjab Police have deported 35,719 foreign nationals as part of a sweeping operation targeting individuals residing illegally in the province, a police spokesperson confirmed on Wednesday. The drive has been conducted across Punjab, including Lahore, and remains ongoing.

Breakdown of Deportees

According to official figures, those deported include more than 14,000 men, 7,138 women, and 14,529 children. The spokesperson detailed that the deportees comprised 11,047 individuals holding Proof of Residence (PoR) cards, 11,135 Afghan Citizen Card (ACC) holders, and 13,537 foreign nationals living in Pakistan without legal status.

Current Status and Holding Centres

At present, 72 foreign nationals are being kept at designated holding centres, where the deportation process is still underway. Punjab Inspector General of Police Abdul Karim has directed law enforcement agencies to remain on high alert across the province and ensure the removal of all individuals staying in the country unlawfully.

Broader Crackdown

In a related development, Chief Minister Murad has ordered a strict crackdown on wheat hoarding and profiteering to prevent artificial shortages. The police chief reiterated the commitment to maintaining law and order and enforcing immigration laws rigorously.
