The Government of Punjab is currently providing an electric bus service to facilitate residents both within and outside Rawalpindi city. In the past, the then Punjab Urban Transport Corporation operated an omnibus service on the route connecting Raja Bazaar, Rawalpindi, with Nilore Factory or Charah Chowk. This route spans approximately 30 kilometres along the main road leading to Lehtrar and Kotli Sattian.
Urgent Need for Affordable Transport
People from nearby villages such as Charah, Chappar, Dallah, Pehont, Simli, and others are in dire need of an economical mode of public transport, such as an e-bus service. These villagers frequently visit markets like Raja Bazaar, Moti Bazaar, and City Saddar Road Bazaar in Rawalpindi for their daily needs.
Exorbitant Fares by Private Wagons
Private wagon owners currently charge exorbitant fares from passengers, placing a heavy financial burden on commuters. The introduction of an electric bus service would provide a cost-effective and environmentally friendly alternative.
Therefore, the concerned authorities in the Punjab Government are requested to urgently provide an electric bus service on the Raja Bazaar Rawalpindi to Nilore Factory route. This initiative would greatly benefit the local population by ensuring affordable and reliable transportation.
