SABIL, the National Grain Supply Co., in partnership with NEOM, has successfully completed the first unloading of a wheat shipment at NEOM Port, located in northwestern Saudi Arabia. The vessel carried 66,000 tonnes of wheat, marking a significant milestone in the Kingdom's efforts to strengthen grain supply chains and enhance food security.
Strategic Logistics Diversification
This operation reflects SABIL's strategy to diversify its logistics channels and improve supply chain efficiency. By leveraging NEOM Port, the company aims to increase operational flexibility and expand access to targeted markets and regions. The move is part of broader cooperation with relevant entities to utilize the Kingdom's strategic ports for sustainable grain flow, especially amid ongoing regional developments.
SABIL emphasized that using NEOM Port will accelerate delivery of shipments to its branches in northern regions, including Tabuk, Al-Jawf, Hail, and Al-Qassim. This enhances distribution efficiency and improves service levels for customers.
Supporting Food Security Objectives
The company affirmed that this initiative extends its ongoing efforts to develop the grain supply system through effective partnerships and advanced logistics solutions. By enhancing supply chain reliability, SABIL supports the Kingdom's food security objectives.
According to SABIL, the strategic location of NEOM Port on the Red Sea makes it a key element in developing Saudi Arabia's logistics infrastructure and boosting regional trade efficiency. The port is being developed into an integrated logistics hub, providing direct connectivity between three continents via a network of ports, roads, and maritime and land trade routes.
Regional Connectivity and Trade
NEOM Port also contributes to strengthening local and regional logistics connectivity through a system that includes cargo handling services, inland freight, short-sea coastal shipping, and multimodal transport solutions. These services extend across the Kingdom, the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, and the wider Middle East.
This milestone underscores SABIL's commitment to diversifying logistics channels and enhancing supply chain efficiency, ultimately supporting Saudi Arabia's broader food security and economic diversification goals under Vision 2030.
