SCCI President Highlights Role of MSMEs in Economic Stabilisation
SARGODHA – Sargodha Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) President Khawaja Yasir Qayyum on Sunday emphasised that collaborative efforts between the chamber and Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) were crucial for generating employment and fostering innovation to stabilise Pakistan’s economy. He made these remarks while addressing a seminar organised in collaboration with the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) to mark World MSMEs Day.
Institutional Development and Business Activities Key to National Progress
Khawaja Yasir Qayyum stated that institutional development and business activities played a critical role in national progress. He highlighted that the partnership between SCCI and SMEDA would provide a key platform for local businesses in Sargodha, adding that the chamber would utilise all available resources to facilitate entrepreneurs.
SMEDA’s Commitment to Strengthening Business Sector
Speaking on the occasion, SMEDA Regional Incharge Ghulam Haider said that the authority, operating under the Ministry of Industries and Production, continued to provide policy support, financial access, cluster development, and capacity-building programmes to strengthen the business sector. He maintained that MSMEs served as the backbone of the economy by driving growth and innovation, and emphasised that SMEDA remained committed to bridging the gap between public and private sectors.
Former SCCI Leaders Applaud SMEDA’s Role
Former SCCI President Mirza Fazal-ur-Rehman, along with Khawaja Abid Rafique, Mirza Mukhtar Ahmed, and Standing Committee Chairman Hassan Goga, also addressed the gathering, lauding SMEDA’s role in supporting the local business ecosystem. During an interactive session, participants identified several challenges facing the district, including hurdles in financial access, business registration, export promotion, and digitalisation.
Shields Presented and Women Chamber Representatives Attend
Later, SMEDA Regional Head Ghulam Haider presented shields to the SCCI President and other dignitaries, while representatives from the Women Chamber of Commerce also attended the event.
SCCI Senior Vice President Concludes Session
SCCI Senior Vice President Mian Muhammad Imran concluded the session by thanking the officials and reiterating that the chamber would continue to cooperate with institutions dedicated to the regional economic development of Sargodha.
