A devastating wildfire in the Almeria region of southern Spain has claimed the lives of 12 people, local authorities confirmed on Monday. Antonio Sanz, Minister of the Presidency, Health, and Emergency for the regional government, characterized the event as an unprecedented tragedy. “This fire is the most destructive we have seen so far,” Sanz stated, emphasizing the severity of the situation. Earlier reports had indicated six fatalities, but the death toll has since doubled as more victims were discovered.
