Sukkor Corp Approves Rs13.95 Billion Budget for FY 2026-27

The Sukkur Municipal Corporation has officially approved a budget of Rs13.95 billion for the fiscal year 2026-27 during a session held on Saturday. The budget was passed by a majority vote, featuring a surplus of Rs1.28 billion. Mayor Barrister Arsalan Islam Shaikh presided over the session and outlined the corporation's financial plans for the upcoming fiscal year.

Expenditure Breakdown and Development Allocations

Addressing the budget session, Mayor Shaikh stated that the corporation anticipates total expenditures of Rs12.66 billion in the coming financial year. Out of this, Rs2.22 billion has been allocated for ongoing development schemes, while Rs540 million will be directed toward new projects. The mayor emphasized that development funds will be distributed to all Union Committees (UCs) to ensure the effective implementation of public welfare initiatives.

Shaikh further noted that the Sindh government has not provided any special grant to Sukkur city. Despite this, the corporation is utilizing its available resources to improve civic amenities, sanitation, drainage systems, road repairs, and other municipal services.

Elected Representatives' Contributions

During the budget session, elected representatives actively presented their proposals, public welfare projects, and recommendations for development works within their respective areas. This participatory approach aimed to address local needs and prioritize community-driven projects.

The approved budget reflects the corporation's commitment to enhancing urban infrastructure and service delivery, even in the absence of provincial grants. The surplus of Rs1.28 billion indicates prudent financial management and a focus on sustainable development.
