The Suthra Punjab Authority in Attock is utilizing all available resources to maintain cleanliness across the district and ensure garbage disposal strictly according to standard operating procedures. Additional Director General (ADCG) and Managing Director (MD) of Suthra Punjab Attock, Anil Saeed, stated this during an exclusive interview with The Nation. District Manager Waleed Abbasi and Manager Muhammad Kashif were also present on the occasion.
Massive Workforce and Vehicle Fleet Deployed
Anil Saeed explained that the authority has deployed a massive workforce and vehicle fleet to cover both urban and rural areas. Across the Attock district, nearly 3,000 field staff members are working daily, using 94 trucks and 300 Suzuki pickups to perform sanitation duties. He noted that the operation is being carried out on a fixed schedule, and special teams have been tasked with the timely redressal of complaints received from different areas.
Tehsil-Wise Deployment Breakdown
Providing a breakdown of tehsil-wise deployment, the ADCG shared that Attock tehsil has 9 trucks, 65 Suzuki vehicles, and 796 field staff members actively engaged in cleanliness work. In Jand tehsil, 8 trucks, 63 Suzukis, and 540 field staff are deployed. Hazro tehsil is covered by 7 trucks, 62 Suzuki pickups, and 455 field staff. Pindigheb tehsil has been assigned the largest truck fleet with 30 trucks, supported by 50 Suzuki vehicles and 423 field staff. Fatehjang tehsil has 3 trucks, 63 Suzuki pickups, and 525 field staff on duty. In Hasanabdal tehsil, 37 trucks are currently involved in sanitation operations. He added that the distribution of vehicles and manpower was planned keeping in view population density, waste generation, and geographical spread of each area.
Waste Bins and Complaint Redressal Mechanism
Anil Saeed said waste bins have been placed in almost all neighborhoods, markets, and public places to facilitate residents. The bins are emptied regularly, and waste is transported to designated disposal sites as per SOPs to prevent environmental hazards and health issues. “Our staff is performing duties according to the schedule, and we are making sure that no area is left unattended,” he stated. Suthra Punjab has also set up a complaint redressal mechanism so citizens can report unattended garbage or missed pickups. Complaints are being addressed promptly, and monitoring teams are conducting surprise checks to ensure staff punctuality and performance.
Public Cooperation Essential
Anil Saeed emphasized that the success of the cleanliness drive depends heavily on public cooperation. He appealed to citizens to use the waste bins installed by Suthra Punjab and avoid littering streets, drains, and open plots. “If people cooperate and throw garbage in the bins instead of on roads, the work of our 3,000 staff will become much easier, and the district will remain clean,” he said. Residents of several areas have acknowledged the improved frequency of garbage collection in recent months. Shopkeepers and residents in Attock city said they now see Suzuki pickups and trucks collecting waste early morning, which has reduced the problem of scattered garbage and bad odor. In rural areas like Jand and Pindigheb, locals said the presence of dedicated staff has helped in clearing waste from previously neglected spots.
Largest Operation in District History
Launched under the provincial clean and green initiative, Suthra Punjab aims to provide modern, mechanized waste management to every tehsil. The Attock district administration says the current deployment of trucks, Suzukis, and field staff is the largest such operation in the district’s history. Officials believe that with continued public support and strict adherence to SOPs, Attock can set an example for other districts in maintaining sustainable cleanliness. ADCG Anil Saeed concluded by saying that cleanliness is not just the responsibility of Suthra Punjab but a shared duty of every citizen. He urged students, traders, and community leaders to spread awareness about proper waste disposal so that Attock remains clean, healthy, and environmentally safe for future generations.
