Three young men died in Bahawalnagar after they attempted to rescue a goat that had fallen into a well, according to police and rescue officials. The incident occurred in the 28 Gajiani area, where the goat accidentally slipped into a well. A local resident entered the well to save the animal but became trapped and drowned. A second young man immediately went in to rescue the first but also drowned. A third man died in a similar attempt. Rescue teams recovered the bodies and handed them over to the heirs. The victims were identified as Muhammad Ali (30), Zain (22), and Muhammad Akbar (18). Two of the victims were brothers. Police registered a case and launched an investigation.
Suspect Arrested for Molesting Boy in Bahawalnagar
In a separate incident, a suspect was arrested for attempting to rape a 10-year-old boy in Bahawalnagar. The victim’s father, Shahzad Ahmed, filed an FIR stating that his son Zeeshan Ahmed went out to play on June 29, 2026, at 9 am. After a while, Zeeshan returned home crying and told witnesses that the accused, Muhammad Imran, took him to his house and tried to rape him. The boy managed to escape. The accused tortured Zeeshan and attempted rape.
The A Division Police Station acted swiftly, registering case number 353/26 under sections 376 and 511 of the Pakistan Penal Code, and arrested the accused within a short time. SHO City A-Division Bahawalnagar Adeel Afzal stated that according to the policy of District Police Officer Muhammad Imran, no concession will be given to any accused, and justice will be provided to the affected child.
Suthra Punjab Workers Protest Over Unpaid Salaries
Meanwhile, workers of the Suthra Punjab program staged a protest demanding payment of their salaries. The workers gathered in Bahawalnagar to voice their grievances over delayed wages. No further details were provided.
