Lightning Kills Two Children in Khyber, Injures Four

A lightning strike during a severe thunderstorm killed two children and injured four others in the Naikai Shan Khel area of Bazaar Zakha Khel, Tehsil Landi Kotal, Khyber district, on Wednesday. The incident occurred when lightning hit the residence of Zalib Gul Afridi, as confirmed by local residents and hospital officials.

Victims Identified

The deceased were identified as 14-year-old Muhib, son of Shahi Muhammad, and 15-year-old Inayat Shah, son of Zalib Gul. Both boys died after being struck by lightning at the scene.

Injured Children and Medical Response

The four injured children—Arshad, Yasir, Gul Afzal, and Shazma—were rushed to the Type ‘D’ Hospital in Bazaar Zakha Khel. Upon examination, doctors pronounced the two boys dead. One of the injured children was in critical condition and was referred to a hospital in Peshawar for specialized treatment. The remaining three were reported to be in stable condition, according to hospital officials.
