FAISALABAD: Two people, including a pregnant woman, were killed in separate incidents in Faisalabad, police said on Saturday.
Woman Dies After Domestic Assault
In the first incident, Bushra Bibi, a resident of Sangla Hill, allegedly died after being severely beaten by her husband and in-laws following a domestic dispute in the jurisdiction of Sayanwala Police Station. Police said Tahir Waseem, a resident of Chak 144-RB, was married to Bushra Bibi. The couple had two children and had reportedly been experiencing frequent domestic disputes.
Police said the latest incident began after an altercation between Bushra and her sister-in-law, Amina Bibi. Following the argument, Bushra was allegedly assaulted by her brother-in-law, Fayyaz, and Amina. The matter was then reported to her husband, who, along with his siblings, allegedly beat Bushra with sticks. She sustained serious head injuries and was initially provided medical treatment before being shifted to Allied Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries after battling for her life.
Police officials, led by Sayanwala SHO Inspector Rai Aftab Waseem, reached the scene, took the body into custody and launched an investigation. Police said Bushra was also pregnant at the time of her death. A case has been registered against her husband and his two siblings on the complaint of Tahir Mahmood, and raids are being conducted to arrest the suspects.
Man Shot Dead at Farmhouse
In a separate incident in the jurisdiction of Khurrianwala police station, unidentified assailants shot and critically injured a villager while he was sleeping alone at his farmhouse in Chak 100-RB. The victim, identified as Atif Israr, was shifted to hospital after receiving initial medical treatment but later died from his injuries. Police have launched an investigation and are searching for the suspects.
