WSSCM Redeploys Sanitation Workers to Field in Mardan

The Water and Sanitation Services Company Mardan (WSSCM) has redeployed five sanitation workers from office assignments to field operations, a move widely welcomed by residents who say the decision will strengthen cleanliness services across the city.

Redeployment to Address Manpower Shortage

According to officials, WSSCM Chief Executive Engineer Adil Nawaz directed that five sanitation workers previously assigned to duties at the District Secretariat be returned to field service. The move aims to address manpower shortages and improve sanitation coverage in Mardan.

Residents said the company was established primarily to provide municipal sanitation services and that available staff should be utilised in the field, where demand for such services remains high. Local observers expressed hope that the redeployment would contribute to improved cleanliness standards and enable the company to make more effective use of its limited workforce and resources.

Assistant Commissioner Issues Eviction Notice

Meanwhile, Assistant Commissioner Mardan Sher Zaman Dogar has issued a notice to WSSCM Deputy Manager Ikramullah, directing him to vacate an official residence allotted to him on a temporary basis. According to the notice, Room No. 20 at the Bachelor Hostel in Mardan is reserved for officers and officials of the district administration.

The administration maintained that the occupant, being an employee of WSSCM, does not fall within the category of officials entitled to the accommodation. The notice states that several district administration officers are awaiting official housing and that some residences are currently occupied by individuals not entitled to such facilities.

Seven-Day Deadline for Vacating Premises

The Assistant Commissioner directed the official to vacate the residence and hand over possession within seven days of receiving the notice. It further states that all outstanding utility charges and other dues must be cleared before the premises are vacated.

Failure to comply within the stipulated period would result in the automatic cancellation of the allotment, after which the occupant would be treated as an unauthorised resident and may face legal action, eviction proceedings and recovery of rent or damages under the relevant rules.
