The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) carried out seven operations across the country, resulting in the arrest of 10 drug suppliers and the recovery of 487.31 kg of narcotics valued at more than Rs38.2 million, an ANF spokesperson announced on Saturday.
International Airport Interdictions
As part of its international drug interdiction efforts, ANF recovered 1.9 kg of ice (methamphetamine) from the luggage of three passengers, including two women, at Bacha Khan International Airport. The suspects, who were attempting to board a flight to Jeddah, were arrested.
In a separate operation at Islamabad International Airport, ANF recovered 6.5 kg of ice concealed inside the luggage of three passengers traveling to Jeddah. All accused were taken into custody.
Domestic Operations Yield Large Hashish Hauls
During domestic operations, ANF seized 410.4 kg of hashish from a truck near Ring Road in Peshawar and arrested the driver. In Lahore, 25.2 kg of hashish were recovered from a rickshaw near Multan Road, leading to the arrest of one suspect.
In Quetta, 19.2 kg of hashish concealed in a fibre box inside a parcel were recovered during an operation at a courier office on Spinny Road. Meanwhile, 18 kg of hashish were seized from a truck near the Indus Highway in Jamshoro, resulting in the arrest of one suspect. In another operation near the National Highway in Hyderabad, ANF arrested a passenger with 6 kg of hashish.
Legal Proceedings Underway
Cases were registered against the arrested suspects under the Control of Narcotic Substances Act (CNSA), 1997, and investigations are underway, the spokesperson said.
