Man Arrested for Torturing Wife Over Dower Refusal

Police in Muzaffargarh have arrested a man accused of brutally torturing his wife after she refused to return her mahr (dower), officials confirmed on Saturday. The suspect, Muhammad Husnain, allegedly assaulted his wife Iqra Bibi and recorded the abuse on video when she declined to give back her wedding dower, which consisted of two tolas of gold.

Details of the Abuse

According to the First Information Report (FIR) filed on the complaint of the victim's father, the dispute began when Husnain demanded that his wife return her mahr. When Iqra Bibi refused, the situation escalated into physical violence. The complainant alleged that Husnain not only beat his wife but also filmed the assault. In a particularly degrading act, the accused filled his canvas shoes with water and forced the victim to drink from them.

The FIR states that Husnain was assisted during the attack by his friend Ejaz and another unidentified accomplice. The abuse continued until Iqra Bibi managed to escape from the house and inform her father about the incident. Her father then approached the police to register a complaint.
