Pakistan Launches Home Delivery Passport Service with TCS

The Directorate General of Immigration and Passports (DGIP) has partnered with logistics and courier company TCS to launch a nationwide home delivery service for passports, called 'Passport Aapki Dehleez Par'. The initiative was formally launched during a meeting at DGIP headquarters and is designed to modernise public service delivery by reducing the need for applicants to visit passport offices while ensuring safe and timely delivery.

How the Service Works

Under the new service, applicants can choose to have their passports delivered to their preferred address after completing the application process. The DGIP stated that the collaboration with TCS aims to make passport services more accessible and citizen-friendly. The service covers both new passports and renewals, and applicants can opt for home delivery at the time of application submission.

Benefits for Citizens

The initiative is expected to significantly reduce the time and effort required to collect passports, especially for those living in remote areas or with mobility issues. It also aims to decongest passport offices by minimizing foot traffic. According to a DGIP official, the service will be available across all major cities and gradually expanded to rural areas. The cost of home delivery will be added to the standard passport fee, with rates determined by TCS based on distance and service level.

Security and Tracking

To ensure security, each passport will be delivered in a tamper-evident envelope, and applicants will receive a tracking number to monitor the delivery status. TCS will use its nationwide network to handle logistics, including secure handling and signature-based delivery. The DGIP emphasized that the service meets all security protocols to prevent loss or misuse of passports.

Future Expansion

The DGIP plans to integrate the home delivery option into its online portal and mobile app, allowing applicants to select the service during the application process. The partnership with TCS is part of a broader effort to digitize passport services and improve customer experience. The DGIP also hinted at potential future services, such as biometric verification at home for elderly or disabled applicants.
