Deputy Commissioner Larkana Tariq Manzoor Chandio presided over a significant meeting on Saturday to address the escalating prices of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) in the district. The meeting was convened in response to growing concerns over excessive pricing and included key officials from the district administration, police, and the Bureau of Supply and Price Department.
Officials Attend Meeting on LPG Price Hike
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner-I Larkana Syed Ghazanfar Ali Shah, Assistant Commissioner Larkana Raja Qureshi, DSP Haideri Ahmed Bakhsh Rahujo, and Assistant Director of the Bureau of Supply and Price Department Larkana Mir Shah Nawaz Sheikh, along with other relevant officers. The Assistant Director briefed the Deputy Commissioner on the exorbitant LPG prices being charged in District Larkana and presented the newly notified prices issued by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA).
OGRA Notifies New Maximum LPG Prices
According to the notification issued by OGRA on June 30, 2026, the maximum price of LPG for consumers has been fixed at Rs. 241.43 per kilogram. For an 11.8 kg domestic cylinder, the maximum retail price is set at Rs. 2848.91. These rates represent the official ceiling that retailers must adhere to, aiming to provide relief to consumers amid rising costs.
Strict Enforcement Directed Across District
Deputy Commissioner Chandio issued clear directives to all Assistant Commissioners of District Larkana, the Police Department, the Assistant Director of the Bureau of Supply and Price Department, and all Mukhtarkars (revenue officers) to ensure strict implementation of the newly notified LPG prices. He emphasized that any violation of the price control order would result in severe legal action against offenders.
“We will not tolerate any overcharging or profiteering at the expense of the public,” the Deputy Commissioner stated. “All relevant authorities must work in coordination to monitor LPG prices and submit daily reports to my office to ensure compliance.”
Daily Reporting Mechanism Established
To maintain transparency and accountability, the Deputy Commissioner instructed that a daily implementation report be submitted to the office of the Deputy Commissioner Larkana. This measure is intended to track enforcement activities and identify any areas where price violations persist. The directive underscores the district administration’s commitment to protecting consumers from unjustified price hikes.
Background: Rising LPG Prices Prompt Government Action
The meeting comes amid broader efforts by the government to control the rising cost of essential commodities, including LPG. The district administration’s proactive stance aligns with the federal and provincial governments’ policies to ensure fair pricing and availability of fuel for domestic and commercial use. The new OGRA notification aims to standardize prices across the country and curb arbitrary increases by dealers.
