Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDC) has commenced oil production from its Bobi Deep-1 well, located in the Sanghar district of Sindh. The well is currently producing 2,000 barrels of oil per day from the Massive Sand of the Lower Goru Formation.
Discovery and Flowline Installation
OGDC had announced the discovery on June 3, 2026. Following the discovery, the company swiftly laid a 1.5-kilometre flowline connecting the well site to the Bobi Plant. This rapid infrastructure development enabled early monetisation of the discovery, allowing production to begin shortly after the announcement.
Operational Details
As the operator with a 100% working interest in the Bobi and Dhamraki Mining Lease, OGDC executed the entire project using its indigenous capabilities. The company’s in-house teams handled all aspects of the flowline laying and well commissioning, demonstrating OGDC's technical expertise and operational efficiency.
The production from Bobi Deep-1 is expected to contribute significantly to Pakistan's domestic oil output, reducing reliance on imports and supporting the country's energy security. OGDC continues to explore and develop hydrocarbon resources across the country, leveraging its local expertise.
