RLNG Prices Surge for June 2025
The government of Pakistan has raised the prices of imported re-gasified liquefied natural gas (RLNG) for June 2025, with increases of up to 16.17% depending on the gas utility company. The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) issued a notification detailing the revised rates, which take effect from June 1.
According to the OGRA notification, the price of imported RLNG for Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) has been increased by 14.94%. The new price is set at $19.52 per million British thermal units (MMBTU), compared to $16.98 per MMBTU in May 2025.
For Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC), the RLNG price has been raised by 16.17%. The revised rate stands at $18.63 per MMBTU, up from $16.04 per MMBTU in the previous month.
Petroleum Levy Adjustments for Petrol and HSD
In a separate move, the government has revised the petroleum levy rates on key petroleum products for the upcoming week. The levy on petrol has been increased by Rs6.22 per litre, bringing the total levy to Rs70.36 per litre. Conversely, the levy on high-speed diesel (HSD) has been reduced by the same amount—Rs6.22 per litre—resulting in a new levy of Rs70.82 per litre.
The government has kept the petroleum levy on kerosene oil unchanged at Rs20.36 per litre. Additionally, the carbon levy of Rs5 per litre on all petroleum products remains unchanged.
Impact on Consumers
The price adjustments are expected to affect consumers and industries reliant on RLNG for power generation and industrial processes, as well as transportation and other sectors that use petrol and diesel. The increase in RLNG prices may lead to higher electricity tariffs, while the reduction in HSD levy could provide some relief to transport and agriculture sectors.
