The federal government on Monday increased the liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) price by 1.63 percent for the month of June 2026. The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) announced the increase, fixing the new consumer price at Rs308.76 per kilogramme, up from Rs303.8 in May.
The increase translates to an additional burden of Rs58 on an 11.8-kilogram domestic cylinder, now priced at Rs3,643.4, and Rs225 increase on a 45.4-kilogram commercial cylinder taking it to Rs13,886. This will affect restaurants, small businesses, and industrial operations nationwide. The new LPG prices took effect June 1.
Notably, for April month, OGRA had hiked LPG price by 35 percent, adding a burden of Rs924 on domestic cylinder. This was among the steepest increases in recent memory, translating to an additional Rs78.28 per kilogram for consumers.
The LPG price hike is affecting low-income households for whom it is the primary cooking fuel, and who are already contending with inflation and stagnant wages. The final consumer price also includes a petroleum levy of Rs4,669 per tonne, an 18 percent general sales tax of Rs40,799 per tonne (up sharply from Rs26,553 in March), and a further 18 percent GST of Rs6,300 levied on marketing, distribution, and transportation margins totaling Rs35,000 per tonne.
