No Flour Shortage in Rawalpindi: DFC Azhar Abbas

District Food Controller (DFC) Azhar Abbas stated on Thursday that there is no shortage of wheat flour in the Rawalpindi district, with supplies remaining stable across all tehsils amid continued market inspections by the authorities.

Sufficient Flour Stocks Available

Speaking to media persons, Abbas confirmed that flour stocks are available in sufficient quantities. Uninterrupted supplies from flour mills to retail outlets are being maintained throughout the district, ensuring consistent availability for consumers.

Current Flour Prices

He highlighted that a 10-kilogram flour bag is being sold at Rs 950, while a 20-kilogram bag is available for between Rs 1,900 and Rs 2,000. These prices are in line with officially notified rates set by the authorities.

Market Monitoring and Inspections

Abbas emphasized that the district administration and food department are closely monitoring markets to ensure flour is sold at official prices. Inspection teams are conducting regular checks in various tehsils to monitor flour availability, quality, and pricing.

Strict Action Against Violators

The authorities will take strict action against traders involved in overcharging or creating artificial shortages, Abbas warned. He urged residents to report cases of overpricing or supply disruptions to the food department or district administration for immediate action.
