DG Khan police claimed on Sunday to have thwarted a major drug smuggling attempt from Balochistan to Punjab, arresting two suspects and recovering a total of 43 kilograms of narcotics in separate operations. The operations were part of an ongoing crackdown against drug traffickers and smugglers in the region.
First Operation: Crystal Meth Recovery
In the first operation, Sakhi Sarwar police intercepted a suspect during routine checking. The suspect was identified as Ijaz Ahmed, son of Fateh Muhammad, a resident of Ziarat district in Balochistan. A search led to the recovery of 3 kilograms of crystal meth (Ice). A case has been registered against the accused under the Narcotics Act.
Second Operation: Large Quantity Seized
In the second operation, police recovered an additional 40 kilograms of narcotics from another suspect. Details of the second suspect and the type of drugs recovered were not immediately disclosed by authorities. The combined haul of 43 kg represents a significant blow to drug trafficking networks operating between Balochistan and Punjab.
Ongoing Crackdown
The police spokesperson stated that the crackdown on drug peddlers and smugglers will continue unabated. Senior police officials have directed all stations to intensify surveillance and checking at entry points to prevent the flow of narcotics into Punjab. The recovered drugs have been handed over to the relevant authorities for further investigation.
