Rawalpindi witnessed a surge in road traffic accidents during the three days of Eid, with a total of 167 incidents reported across the district. According to Rescue 1122, these accidents resulted in three fatalities and left 189 individuals injured. Among the injured, 84 sustained serious injuries while 102 suffered minor injuries. The emergency rescue service provided timely assistance to all victims, maintaining its average response time throughout the incidents.
Details of Accidents and Victims
The majority of the road traffic accidents involved cars and motorcycles. The 189 victims included 157 males and 32 females. The primary causes of these accidents were overspeeding, careless driving, tyre bursts, and other factors. Most of the victims were aged between 11 and 40 years. Rescue 1122 emphasized that compliance with traffic laws is essential to minimize such incidents.
Fire Incidents During Eid
In addition to road accidents, Rescue 1122 responded to 46 fire incidents across Rawalpindi district during the same period. Rescue teams arrived promptly at all locations and carried out efficient relief operations. Fortunately, no injuries or casualties were reported in any of these fire incidents. The emergency responders successfully saved property worth approximately Rs19 million from potential damage. The fire incidents were caused by short circuits, human negligence, and other factors.
Forest Fires and Safety Measures
Furthermore, 10 forest fire incidents were reported to Rescue Rawalpindi during the Eid days. The rescue service is dedicated to reducing fire incidents through the enforcement of fire safety rules, fire safety training, and other awareness programs. Rescue 1122 continues to work actively to reduce road traffic accidents and fire incidents in the district.
