In a decisive move to reclaim state property, the Federal Government Employees Housing Authority (FGEHA) executed a significant anti-encroachment operation in the capital on Wednesday. The action, specifically targeting Sector G-15/3, was ordered by the Director General of FGEHA, Captain (Retd.) Zafar Iqbal, and marks a firm stance against illegal occupation of public land.
Operation Details and Leadership
The large-scale drive was carried out under the direct supervision of two senior officials: Deputy Commissioner FGEHA, Ms. Almas Sabiha Saqib, and the Director of Security, Colonel Azhar Saeed. Their coordinated efforts ensured the operation was conducted smoothly and effectively. The primary objective was to permanently eliminate illegal structures that were blocking planned development projects on the authority's land.
Substantial Land Recovered and Structures Demolished
The results of the day-long operation were substantial. Authorities successfully retrieved an estimated 65 to 70 kanals of prime government land. Furthermore, 12 illegally constructed houses and other buildings were completely demolished during the action. This clearance is a critical step forward for the housing authority's development plans in the sector.
Future Plans and Public Appeal
Following the retrieval, FGEHA officials announced that development work on the cleared land will be undertaken on a priority basis. The goal is to complete the necessary infrastructure swiftly so that possession of plots can be handed over to the respective allottees at the earliest possible date. The authority has also made a public appeal, urging allottees and citizens to refrain from illegal activities and to cooperate with FGEHA to ensure timely completion of development projects.
Officials reaffirmed their commitment to continue indiscriminate action against illegal encroachments in the future, signaling no tolerance for such practices.
Update on Development Progress in the Sector
In related development news for the area, FGEHA provided an update on ongoing work. The asphalt laying on roads is now complete. Foundations for electric poles have been installed 100 percent, and transformers along with Load Break Switches (LBS) are operational. Progress on service roads is also advancing, with the East Service Road 85 percent complete and the North Service Road at 60 percent completion; remaining work is progressing rapidly.
To date, possession of 404 residential plots out of a total of 1,120 has already been transferred to allottees, marking steady progress in the authority's housing scheme.
