Disney and Pixar's Toy Story 5 has held the top spot at the South Korean box office for a second consecutive weekend, despite a notable dip in ticket sales. According to figures from the Korean Film Council (KOFIC), the animated sequel earned approximately $2.4 million over the weekend, bringing its domestic total in South Korea to $11.5 million. The film continued to draw family audiences, although revenue fell from its opening weekend.
The Eyes 2 Debuts Strongly in Second Place
Debuting in second place was the Korean thriller The Eyes 2, which opened with an estimated $2.1 million. The sequel attracted strong interest from local audiences and emerged as the highest-grossing new release of the weekend, setting up what could become a successful theatrical run.
Minions & Monsters Holds Third, Anime and Superhero Films Follow
Universal and Illumination's Minions & Monsters landed in third place, adding another $1.6 million to its South Korean tally. While the animated adventure has performed more modestly than previous entries in the franchise, it continues to benefit from the school holiday period. Elsewhere in the top five, Japanese anime Detective Conan: One-Eyed Flashback maintained a solid performance, while Warner Bros.' Supergirl continued to struggle after its disappointing opening, slipping further down the rankings as interest waned.
Family Entertainment and Local Thrillers Drive Box Office
The latest results reflect the continued strength of family entertainment in South Korea, with Toy Story 5 proving resilient against new competition. At the same time, the encouraging debut of The Eyes 2 highlights the enduring appeal of locally produced thrillers, which remain a key driver of the country's box office.
