The National Institute of Folk and Traditional Heritage (Lok Virsa), operating under the National Heritage and Culture Division, has initiated a three-month singing training programme designed to preserve and promote Pakistan’s rich musical heritage. The programme provides aspiring vocalists with professional instruction across a range of musical genres, including classical singing, traditional ghazals, Pakistani folk music, modern songs, and contemporary singing. It is open to both beginners and experienced singers.
Programme Structure and Schedule
According to Lok Virsa, music instructor Wazir Ali will conduct classes on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, while Sohail Jehangir will hold sessions on Saturdays and Sundays. The three-month course comprises two classes per week, offering participants practical vocal training and exposure to various styles of Pakistani music. The monthly fee has been set at Rs5,000 per student.
