Deputy Commissioner (DC) Matiari Muhammad Yousif Sheikh has directed that all preparations for the 283rd Annual Urs of Hazrat Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai (RA) be completed in a well-organised, timely, and dignified manner. The directive aims to ensure that thousands of devotees visiting from across the country are provided with every possible facility. He emphasised that negligence on the part of any department would not be tolerated and instructed all concerned departments to perform their responsibilities with close coordination and mutual cooperation. He further directed that contingency measures be finalised in advance to effectively deal with any emergency situation arising from the expected monsoon rains.
Meeting at Bhit Shah to Review Urs Preparations
According to a handout, the DC expressed these views while presiding over an important meeting held at the Culture Rest House in Bhit Shah to review the arrangements for the 283rd Annual Urs. The meeting was attended by SSP Matiari Abdul Aleem Bullo, Chairman Town Committee Bhit Shah Syed Khawar Hussain Shah, the Gaddi Nasheen of the shrine Syed Mustafa Shah, Chief Administrator of the Culture Department Mukhtiar Abro, DHO Dr Zahid, officers of various concerned departments, media representatives, and other participants.
Key Directives for Essential Facilities
The DC directed all relevant departments to ensure timely completion of arrangements related to sanitation, electricity, drinking water, healthcare, traffic management, communications, rescue services, municipal services, parking, street lighting, and all other essential facilities. The goal is to ensure that devotees do not face any inconvenience during the Urs.
Security Plan Presented by SSP
SSP Abdul Aleem Bullo, while briefing the meeting on the security plan, said that foolproof security arrangements would be made throughout the Urs. Additional police personnel would be deployed at the shrine, parking areas, and other sensitive locations, while additional force would also be called in from neighbouring districts. He added that a comprehensive security plan would be fully implemented to ensure smooth traffic flow, the safety of devotees, and the maintenance of law and order.
Cultural and Administrative Briefing
Chief Administrator of the Auqaf Mukhtiar Abro gave a detailed briefing on the cultural, literary, religious, and administrative activities scheduled from the opening ceremony to the closing ceremony of the Urs. The Gaddi Nasheen and representative of the shrine Syed Mustafa Shah said that the Urs of Hazrat Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai carries the message of love, peace, tolerance, and brotherhood. He urged all departments to work collectively to provide the best possible facilities to devotees.
Health Department Preparedness
DHO Dr Zahid also briefed the meeting on the health department's preparedness, ensuring that medical facilities would be available to handle any health emergencies during the Urs.
