WASA Lahore & PEC Launch Graduate Engineer Training Program with Stipend
WASA Lahore & PEC Sign MoU for Engineer Training Program

In a significant move to bolster practical skills for new engineers, the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Lahore and the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) have formally joined hands. The two institutions signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to launch the Graduate Engineer Training Placement Program, a dedicated initiative designed to create professional pathways for recent engineering graduates.

Partnership for Practical Skills Development

The signing ceremony took place during a meeting led by WASA Lahore Managing Director Ghaffran Ahmed. The agreement was formally inked by MD Ghaffran Ahmed representing WASA, while PEC Additional Registrar Muhammad Ansar signed on behalf of the engineering council. The core aim of this collaboration is to enhance the professional capabilities of fresh engineering graduates. It seeks to provide them with indispensable practical training, direct technical exposure, and hands-on experience specifically within the critical fields of water supply and sewerage management.

Structure of the Five-Month Internship Program

Under the newly forged agreement, the Pakistan Engineering Council will be responsible for nominating fresh graduates from across Pakistan. These selected candidates will then be placed at WASA Lahore for a comprehensive five-month internship period. A key benefit for the trainees is that they will receive a monthly stipend, which will be fully funded by the Pakistan Engineering Council. This financial support ensures that young engineers can focus on gaining valuable experience without undue economic pressure.

Gaining Experience on Real-World Projects

The interns will not be sidelined observers; they will be actively inducted into WASA Lahore's ongoing technical and infrastructure development projects. This immersion is expected to provide them with practical experience, exposure to modern technologies, and a thorough understanding of operational systems in a major urban utility service. The program is strategically designed to help young engineers build a solid professional foundation, thereby opening new and promising pathways for their long-term career growth in the engineering sector.

The ceremony saw attendance from key officials, including Director Mudassar Javed from WASA Lahore. The Pakistan Engineering Council's delegation was represented by Punjab Vice Chairman Dr. Sohail Aftab Qureshi, Regional Head Engineer Muhammad Ansar, and Assistant Registrar Umar Ijaz.
