Lonzo Ball has publicly addressed speculation surrounding his parents' divorce, firmly denying reports that their separation was connected to his father LaVar Ball's recent health issues. Speaking on the Ball in the Family podcast, the Chicago Bulls guard clarified misconceptions after LaVar Ball announced the end of his nearly 30-year marriage to Tina Ball.
Lonzo Ball Sets the Record Straight
“First and foremost, I want to say I love both my parents, but the situation that has been put before y'all is not how it went down,” Lonzo Ball said. “Long story short, my mom didn't want to leave. She was d*mn near forced to leave. I helped her leave. I'm glad she left. She's in a great spot… She's good. My pops is good. They obviously don't f**k with each other, but I'll f**k with 'em both, and she was not wrong at all.”
Rejecting the Amputation Myth
Ball also rejected suggestions that his mother's decision to leave was linked to LaVar Ball's medical condition. LaVar underwent a foot amputation last year due to complications from diabetes and a foot infection. “She did not leave him because he lost his foot. That's a myth that was put out there…” Ball said. “My dad did a great job raising us. My mom did a great job raising us. They didn't work out, and it is what it is. They're both doing well, and I love 'em both.”
Family in the Spotlight
The Ball family has been a subject of public fascination for years, particularly during Lonzo Ball's rise to the NBA. The guard expressed a desire to clarify the narrative while affirming his support for both parents. “I wanted to set the record straight because the story out there wasn't accurate,” he added. The divorce marks the end of a long union that produced three sons, all of whom have pursued basketball careers.
