Veteran actor Sami Sani has made a return to social media by launching his own YouTube channel. Through this platform, he shares personal stories from his decades-long career and reflects on the unexpected journey that led him into acting.
Acting Was Never Planned
In a recent interview, the actor, known for dramas such as Doosra Aasman and Naseeb, revealed that acting was never part of his original plan. His first passion was singing. "People thought I started as an actor. From day one, my passion was singing," he said, recalling his time in Kuwait before entering Pakistan's entertainment industry. "We had a group together and, let's say, I was the lead singer." Laughing at his younger self, he added: "I used to sing badly but had lots of confidence."
Admiration for Kishore Kumar
Sani also spoke about his lifelong admiration for legendary Indian singer Kishore Kumar. "I had a love for Kishore Kumar since childhood, and that has stayed with me even now," he said. "There have been many amazing singers since then, but I always focus on him."
Career by Luck
The actor explained that neither singing nor acting was formally planned. "I didn't learn acting. It came by luck, and I had to be taught by writers. The same happened with singing and directing," he said. Over the years, Sani expanded into directing and worked on numerous television projects, including Saaya 2.
Return to Public Eye
Discussing his return, he said he never truly left the entertainment industry. "I never left social media. I was not on screen but behind it," he remarked, thanking fans whose positive reactions to his Instagram content encouraged him to reconnect with audiences.
Bald Look and New Challenges
The interview also touched on his recently adopted bald look, which has drawn attention online. "This is not a big change. Bald looks are in, especially in the West. Young men and middle-aged men both keep it. I thought it would suit me too," he said before jokingly adding, "Another reason was that my hair started falling." Sani revealed that appearing bald is not entirely new, recalling a bald look test during one of his earliest television projects with writer Fatima Surayya Bajia.
Concluding the conversation, the actor described himself as constantly seeking new challenges. "I am an Aquarius. I can't stay in one place or do one job at a time. It seems monotonous, so I am always moving," he said. Before the interview ended, Sani teased the story of how his acting career began: "My acting started when one morning, the paper arrived at our house," leaving fans curious for more.
