LAHORE – Senior journalists, colleagues, and friends paid glowing tributes to the late journalist Atif Mateen at a condolence reference, remembering him as an exceptionally skilled news editor, a gifted copywriter, and a warm-hearted friend whose ever-present smile and humility left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

Speakers at the event held at Lahore Press Club described Atif Mateen as one of the finest newsroom professionals of his generation, noting that his command over language, attention to detail, and ability to transform complex reports into compelling news stories had earned him widespread respect in journalistic circles.
Tributes from Veteran Journalists
Veteran journalist Hussain Naqi recalled his long association with Atif Mateen and praised his professionalism, dedication, and commitment to journalistic values. He said Mateen possessed rare editing skills and always remained willing to guide younger journalists.
Senior journalist Mayed Ali Syed highlighted Mateen’s contribution to English-language journalism, saying he was known for producing polished and accurate copies under tight deadlines while maintaining the highest professional standards. He also admired him for his friendly and caring nature.
Arshad Ansari, President of the Lahore Press Club, noted that Atif Mateen would be remembered by his colleagues and friends as a person who remained calm under pressure and treated everyone with respect.
