FX has officially greenlit The Marriage Plot, a limited series adaptation of Jeffrey Eugenides’ 2011 novel, with Sadie Sink set to star in the lead role. The project will stream on Hulu and is being produced by A24 and FX Productions, bringing together a high-profile creative team including writer Will Arbery and director Hiro Murai.
Plot and Themes
The series follows three recent college graduates entangled in a complex love triangle as they struggle to reconcile their romantic ideals with the realities of adulthood. According to the official description, the story explores themes of love, identity, and emotional transition during a formative period of life, as the characters are forced to make life-altering decisions about their futures.
Sadie Sink's Role
Sink, best known for her breakout role as Max Mayfield in Stranger Things, continues to expand her film and television career with this latest leading role. Her recent credits include Darren Aronofsky’s The Whale and stage performances in John Proctor Is the Villain and Romeo & Juliet. She is also set to appear in the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
Creative Team
The series brings together a strong creative lineup. Will Arbery, known for his writing work on Succession, serves as writer and executive producer, while Hiro Murai—acclaimed for his work on Atlanta and the music video This Is America—directs and executive produces. FX Entertainment president Gina Balian described the adaptation as “ambitious, character-driven storytelling,” highlighting the network’s continued collaboration with A24 and its creative partners.
