The OIC Ministerial Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation (COMSTECH), in collaboration with the Prime Institute of Health Sciences and the Yemeni Embassy, has launched a specialised training programme for Yemeni healthcare professionals.
Training Programme for Yemeni Healthcare Workers
Under the initiative, an initial batch of 25 Yemeni nurses and allied health workers will receive professional training in Pakistan to strengthen their clinical skills and healthcare competencies, particularly in nursing, midwifery, maternal and child health, community healthcare and allied health sciences.
Commitment to Strengthening Healthcare Systems
Speaking at the launch ceremony, COMSTECH Coordinator General Prof Dr M. Iqbal Choudhary said the programme reflected the organisation’s commitment to strengthening healthcare systems across OIC member states through education and capacity building. He noted that the initiative was the fourth major capacity-building programme undertaken by COMSTECH for Yemen in recent years.
Solidarity Among OIC Member States
Yemen’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Mohammed Motahar Alashabi, described the programme as a practical example of solidarity among OIC member states and said it would contribute to rebuilding Yemen’s healthcare sector by enhancing the skills of healthcare professionals.
Hands-on Training Aligned with International Standards
Prime Institute of Health Sciences Chairman Dr Abdul Wajid said the institute would provide hands-on training aligned with international standards and continue supporting Yemeni trainees through academic mentorship and professional guidance.
