PESHAWAR: Special Assistant to the Chief Minister on Food Dr Israr Khan on Thursday pledged to ensure the provision of safe, quality wheat and flour across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while announcing a zero-tolerance policy towards corruption within the Food Department.
First Meeting with Officials
Chairing his first meeting with senior departmental officials, Dr Israr said ensuring the availability of quality food commodities to consumers remained a top priority of the provincial government and that all available resources would be utilised to achieve this objective. The meeting was attended by Secretary Food Shah Mahmood, Director Food Mohsin Iqbal and other senior officials, while divisional deputy directors and district food controllers participated via video link.
Briefing on Operations
Officials briefed the Special Assistant on the department’s organisational structure, ongoing initiatives and key operational challenges. Addressing the meeting, Dr Israr stressed that strict action would be taken against any official found involved in corrupt practices, adding that transparency, merit and professionalism would guide the department’s operations.

Dr Israr said the Food Department must serve the public with efficiency, accountability and dedication while maintaining high standards of governance. He also emphasised the importance of protecting the dignity and professional standing of departmental employees, assuring officials that their legitimate concerns would be addressed. He called for collective efforts to improve departmental performance and strengthen service delivery to the public.
