KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has taken serious notice of the brutal torture of a female camel in the Chachhro area of Tharparkar district. He directed the Livestock and Fisheries Department to provide the animal with the best available veterinary treatment and ensure round-the-clock monitoring until its complete recovery.
Chief Minister Briefed on Incident
The Chief Minister was briefed about the incident and informed that, following treatment and as per the report submitted by Secretary Livestock Department Kazim Jatoi, the condition of the female camel is stable. The animal is now able to stand, walk, eat, and drink without significant difficulty. The 13-year-old camel had sustained serious injuries due to severe physical torture, including the complete rupture of its right eye.
CM Expresses Deep Concern
Expressing deep concern over the incident, Murad Ali Shah stated that cruelty against animals is a reprehensible act and cannot be tolerated in a civilized society. Deputy Commissioner Tharparkar Haleem Jagirani, in his report, informed the chief minister that he had personally visited the village to review the condition of the camel, which has improved considerably. SSP Tharparkar Arif Aziz informed the chief minister that the police have registered an FIR with Khensar Police Station and arrested two accused persons.
Veterinary Examination Details
According to the report prepared by the Directorate of Animal Husbandry, Sindh, a veterinary team visited the affected village in Union Council Charnhor, Taluka Chachhro, on June 9 and conducted a detailed clinical examination of the injured camel. The examination revealed that the camel’s right eyeball had been completely ruptured and irreversibly damaged. The left eye was found severely swollen with stress-related inflammation, while multiple injuries and bruises were observed on different parts of the body, indicating physical torture allegedly inflicted with wooden sticks or other blunt objects. The animal was also found suffering from severe weakness, fatigue, and emaciation.
The report stated that, according to the owner’s account, the camel was allegedly captured by a neighboring individual on May 25 and kept confined at his residence, where it was subjected to severe physical abuse. The owner managed to recover the animal two days later but delayed reporting the matter due to threats and pressure allegedly exerted by the accused.

Murad Ali Shah directed the Livestock Department to continue providing all necessary medical care and submit regular updates on the animal’s condition. A special veterinary team, comprising veterinary surgeons, veterinary officers, and livestock staff, has been deployed for continuous monitoring, while daily follow-up examinations are being conducted to assess the camel’s recovery, Secretary Livestock Kazim Jatoi told the chief minister in the report.
