MULTAN/BAHAWALPUR – Three workers lost their lives after suffering a severe electric shock when a metal ladder came into contact with high-voltage power lines at Sher Shah Toll Plaza on Shujaabad road on Friday.
Incident at Sher Shah Toll Plaza
According to Rescue 1122 sources, the control room received an emergency call reporting that three private contractor workers had been electrocuted at the toll plaza. Rescue teams were immediately dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, rescuers found that the workers had just completed repair work on a light installed on the steel roof of the toll plaza and were carrying a metal ladder back to a storage area when it accidentally touched overhead power lines. The contact caused a powerful electric current to pass through the ladder, resulting in the deaths of all three workers on the spot.
Witnesses at the scene said the incident appeared to have occurred due to a lack of precaution while handling the ladder near live electrical wires. The deceased were identified as 23-year-old Abdul Qayyum, son of Muhammad Nadeem, and 38-year-old Ameen Hamza, son of Allah Ditta, while a third victim was transported separately by another ambulance.
