Taxila Woman Alleges Domestic Violence, Police Inaction

HARIPUR: A resident of Taxila has appealed to the Haripur police for justice, alleging brutal domestic violence by her husband and inaction by Khanpur police. According to sources, the complainant alleged that police negligence and delays by the Jandal police post have deprived her of justice for over a month and separated her from her infant child.

Complaint Details

In her complaint to the District Police Officer (DPO), she stated that she married Haseeb Ahmed in October 2022. The couple has a son and a daughter. She alleged that shortly after marriage, her husband, whom she described as addicted to alcohol and drugs, began verbally and physically abusing her.

Escalation of Abuse

She claimed the abuse reached its peak on May 4 and 5 when her husband allegedly assaulted her while intoxicated, attempted to strangle her, threatened to kill her and eventually threw her out of the house after severe violence. She further alleged that he forcibly took the children away from her.

Police Negligence Alleged

The woman said she approached Khanpur police and Jandal police post in-charge Zahid Khan for legal action, but no effective steps were taken. The complainant requested the DPO to take strict notice of the alleged negligence of Khanpur police and Zahid Khan and to ensure legal action against her husband.
