The Attock district administration has launched a comprehensive digital health mapping initiative targeting all 2.2 million residents, aiming to revolutionize healthcare delivery and data management in the region. The drive, announced by local health authorities, seeks to create a centralized digital database of health indicators, disease prevalence, and healthcare infrastructure across the district.
Scope and Objectives of the Initiative
Under the program, health teams will collect data on demographics, existing medical conditions, vaccination records, and access to healthcare facilities. The information will be integrated into a digital platform accessible to policymakers and healthcare providers. According to Dr. Asif Mehmood, District Health Officer Attock, the initiative will enable targeted interventions and efficient resource allocation. "This mapping will help us identify gaps in healthcare delivery and respond more effectively to outbreaks," he stated.
Implementation and Technology
The drive utilizes mobile health units and tablet-based surveys to ensure real-time data entry. Over 500 health workers have been trained for field operations, covering both urban and rural areas. The system will also track non-communicable diseases, maternal and child health metrics, and immunization coverage. Officials expect the mapping to be completed within three months.
Expected Impact on Healthcare
The digital health map is projected to improve disease surveillance, reduce response times during health emergencies, and support evidence-based planning. It aligns with the provincial government's broader digital health strategy. Residents are encouraged to participate by providing accurate information during household visits. The initiative has been praised by public health experts as a model for other districts.
