Police in Abbottabad have registered a kidnapping case after a 17-day-old infant was abducted from the nursery ward of Children Hospital in Gami Adda on Tuesday morning. The case was filed on the complaint of the baby's father, Muhammad Siraj, a resident of Jhangi Syedan.
Infant Missing After Mother Steps Out Briefly
According to the First Information Report (FIR No. 750/26) registered at Cantt Police Station, the newborn had been admitted to the nursery ward since June 17. The mother, Amina Bibi, was staying with him. Around 7:00 AM on Tuesday, the mother briefly left the ward. When she returned at approximately 7:30 AM, the infant was missing. A search of the hospital revealed that an unidentified woman had taken the baby from the nursery.
Police stated that Assistant Sub-Inspector Raja Javed arrived at the hospital shortly after the report was made. A formal case was registered at 9:30 AM under Section 363 of the Pakistan Penal Code, which deals with kidnapping.
CCTV Footage Shows Suspect Escaping With Baby
Initial investigations, including CCTV footage from the hospital and surrounding areas, show the suspect leaving the premises with the infant. She then boarded a public Suzuki van on the Karakoram Highway. The footage indicates she traveled some distance before disembarking near Ayub Medical Complex, after which she could not be traced.
Police have obtained additional CCTV footage from the hospital and nearby routes. Multiple teams have been formed to identify and arrest the suspect and recover the child. The family has appealed to authorities for the immediate safe recovery of the infant.
