DC Lahore inspects procession routes and security measures
Deputy Commissioner Lahore Capt (R) Muhammad Ali Ijaz visited Wasanpura and Sadat Ganj in Ravi Tehsil on Tuesday to review arrangements for the traditional Zuljanah procession scheduled to be taken out on the 9th of Muharram from Jamia Allama Hairi. During the visit, the deputy commissioner inspected the procession routes and reviewed security, sanitation and municipal arrangements.
Chief Officer Metropolitan Corporation Lahore Shahid Abbas, Assistant Commissioner Ravi Humeira Shah, and officials from the Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC), WASA and Rescue 1122 accompanied him. Assistant Commissioner Ravi briefed the deputy commissioner on security measures and crowd management plans along the procession route.
Cleanliness and dewatering units ordered
The deputy commissioner directed the authorities concerned to ensure cleanliness along the routes and instructed WASA to keep mobile dewatering units on alert in view of possible rainfall. He also ordered the immediate removal of encroachments from pedestrian pathways to facilitate the movement of mourners.
Officials were directed to keep Rescue 1122 medical camps operational throughout the religious events to provide emergency assistance if required. During the inspection, the deputy commissioner reviewed arrangements for drinking water and refreshment stalls set up along the route.

He also examined security measures, including screened search cabins for women and the installation of CCTV cameras. Muhammad Ali Ijaz said all relevant departments had been directed to remain vigilant and coordinate closely to ensure the smooth conduct of 9th Muharram processions and gatherings.
