A sessions court in Lahore on Thursday extended the interim bail of Member of the Provincial Assembly (MPA) Saqib Chadhar until July 13 in a harassment case registered on the complaint of actress Momina Iqbal. Additional District and Sessions Judge Nusrat Sadiqi presided over the hearing and directed the accused to cooperate with the investigation.
Investigation Delayed by Late Receipt of Mobile Phone
During the proceedings, the investigating officer informed the court that Chadhar's mobile phone, which is required for forensic examination, was received only a day earlier. As a result, the investigation remains incomplete. The court instructed the investigation team to expedite the probe and submit a progress report along with relevant records at the next hearing.
Actress's Counsel Alleges Deliberate Delay
Counsel for Momina Iqbal argued that Saqib Chadhar was deliberately delaying the investigation to obstruct progress in the case. The court, however, did not rule on the allegation but directed the investigation officer to complete the probe at the earliest.
Case Registered Under Cyber Crime Laws
The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) had registered the case against MPA Saqib Chadhar on the complaint of actress Momina Iqbal, alleging harassment. The court adjourned the proceedings until July 13, granting Chadhar continued interim bail until then.
